Both Hyderabad and Kolkata made it to the playoffs last year, and are sides with some quality players in their ranks. Spinners have historically enjoyed bowling at the Eden Gardens, and both the teams are equipped with world-class spinners. While expecting a high-voltage clash, it is important to note that the Dinesh Karthik led team has the home advantage to themselves, and there’s no crowd more loyal than the one in Eden. Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine will open the batting for Kolkata, followed by Robin Uthappa and Shubman Gill. Karthik has been assigned the role of a finisher, while Andre Russell will be their best all-rounder. In the bowling department, the spin trio of Sunil Narine, Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav is expected to do most of the work, considering how the pitch plays.

Despite trading their star performer in Shikhar Dhawan at the auctions, Hyderabad still look very strong on paper. Expect swashbuckling batsman David Warner to open the batting for Hyderabad and Wriddhiman Saha as his second fiddle. Skipper Kane Williamson will anchor the middle-order alongside all-rounders Vijay Shankar, Yusuf Pathan and Mohammad Nabi. Leg-spinner Rashid Khan has a good personal record at Eden, while Siddharth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will spearhead the pace attack.

Rashid Khan – When talking about bowlers, the Afghanistan leg-spinner has to be your first choice when you pick your Fantain XI. Not just the India T20 league, he has been a top bowler in almost all global T20 leagues, and his average of 15.37 is the proof. Rashid will be looking to make full use of a turning Eden track.
Sunil Narine – The mystery spinner is Kolkata’s biggest asset not just with his wicket-taking ability but also his explosive batting as an opener. Narine was key to both the titles the team has won and is coming into this season on the back of excellent outings in the BPL.
David Warner – The Australian opener, returning from a ban, is still in the prime of his powers. Warner will also be looking to make a case for himself in Australia’s World Cup squad by impressing in the Indian T20 league.
Chris Lynn – The Australian batman should not go missing on your Fantain XI through the entire season. After blasting as many as 500 runs from 16 matches last year, and having similar records in the previous years, Lynn is Kolkata’s go-to hitter, besides Andre Russell and Sunil Narine.
Kuldeep Yadav – The chinaman’s personal record at Eden is impressive. Having been in fine form in the recent limited-overs series against Australia, Kuldeep would now be aiming to make the most of the spin-friendly wicket for in Kolkata for the purple army.
