It has been a fortnight since Kolkata last won a game in IPL 2019. From being one of the top teams, where they had won 4 out of 5 games and were sitting pretty at the top of the tree, they are now at the wrong side of the table after losing 6 games on the bounce and another loss will end their journey in the competition.

They will face off against an in-form Mumbai, who are fresh from doing another double against Chennai, at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. The pressure is palpable on Dinesh Karthik and his team but the local crowd will yet again get behind them in another blockbuster encounter. On the other hand, Mumbai will seal a spot in the final four.

With both teams having everything to play for, selecting a fantasy team could be a tricky proposition as big stars will take part in this encounter. Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla returned to form in the previous game and could play a big hand at the Eden Gardens which predominantly assists spinners.

Fresh from his first fifty of the season, Rohit will look forward to have another good outing at a ground he loves playing at. There is no doubt that Mumbai have all the odds to clinch this game but Kolkata could spring a surprise and make the table even more interesting.

Likely XIs

Kolkata: Chris Lynn, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (C & WK), Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Yarra Prithviraj, Kuldeep Yadav/Prasidh Krishna, Matt Kelly/Carlos Brathwaite

Mumbai: Quinton de Kock (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Evin Lewis, Suryakumar Yadav, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Anukul Sudhakar Roy, Rahul Chahar, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah

Dotball Prediction:

Dotball team for Head to Head/Small Contests:

WicketKeeper – Quinton de Kock

Batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill

All-Rounders – Hardik Pandya (VC), Krunal Pandya, Andre Russell (C)

Bowlers – Lasith Malinga, Piyush Chawla, Prasidh Krishna

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Besides taking 8 wickets with the ball, which was once considered his primary role, Russell has tallied 406 runs at 58 while striking at an unbelievable rate of 209.27. His sheer consistency with the big hits has put bowlers under severe pressure. After two low scores, Russell will be eyeing another whirlwind performance against big guns Mumbai.

Vice-Captain: Like Russell, Pandya too has been an asset for Mumbai with both bat and ball. His finishing skills have gone a notch higher during this year and so has been his bowling under extreme pressure.

Fantasy Tips

Piyush Chawla showed what he is still capable of doing when he picked a neat three-wicket haul in the previous game. Shubman Gill hasn’t made best use of valuable opportunities provided to him but is capable of turning it around quickly.

Safe Captain Choices:

Quinton de Kock

Rohit Sharma

Dinesh Karthik

Risky Captain Choices:

Evin Lewis

Hardik Pandya

Andre Russell

Dotball Team for Large/Grand Contests:

WicketKeeper – Dinesh Karthik

Batsmen – Chris Lynn, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Shubman Gill

All-Rounders – Krunal Pandya, Sunil Narine (VC), Carlos Brathwaite

Bowlers – Jasprit Bumrah (C), Rahul Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav

Captain and Vice-Captain choices:

Captain: Bumrah has been at his menacing best, nailing the yorkers during the slog overs. His economy rate of 6.19 is the lowest among all fast bowlers in the league. He will be given the responsibility to keep Andre Russell in check during the final phases of the innings.

Vice-Captain: Narine wasn’t at his best during the first half of the tournament but has regained some form as the tournament has progressed. Dinesh Karthik might play him in the middle order again as he can take apart the likes of Krunal and Chahar. Bowling wise, he is fresh from a neat spell of 2/25 in the previous game.

Fantasy Tips

Brathwaite will have fond memories of this ground where he had taken West Indies to an improbable World T20 win in 2016. He can hit the long ball and can be a handy bowling option with his cutters in the middle.

Dream 11 Prediction

Suggested Playing XI No. 1 for Head to Head/Small Leagues

WicketKeeper – Quinton de Kock (C)

Batsmen – Rohit Sharma, Evin Lewis, Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill

All-Rounders – Hardik Pandya, Sunil Narine (VC), Andre Russell

Bowlers – Lasith Malinga, Rahul Chahar, Yarra Prithviraj

Fantasy Tips

Chahar will be tested against a power-packed batting line-up but has a smart head on his shoulders. Evin Lewis will aim to feast on an off-colour bowling attack of Kolkata.

Fantasy Tips

Malinga has gone for runs but has been amongst the wickets and will yet again hold the key for Mumbai. Krunal’s return to form with the ball is a good sign and the left-arm spinner will enjoy bowling at the Eden Gardens deck.
