Cheteshwar Pujara was India’s best batsman in that series. He cemented his spot as the number three batsman with some great performances. He started off the series with a double century and went on to score two more centuries to end up as the second highest scorer with 438 runs in 7 innings at an average close to 90.

Post that series, Pujara had tough times playing in overseas. As a result, he was dropped from the XI on a few occasions. However, he holds on to that number three slot in the Indian batting order and is one of the pillars of the Test team at the moment.

Another promising cricketer, who was dominating the bowlers in the domestic arena got his chance in the Indian squad for the series against England. However, he wasn’t picked in the side at all and had to wait for another two to three months to make his debut.

Ever since he got his chances, he made the most of it. He excelled playing in overseas conditions but has seen many highs and lows at the same time. Rahane is currently the vice-captain of the Test team and has also led the side on a few occasions. He is an important member in the middle-order in Tests but hasn’t been as successful in white-ball cricket.

This dashing opener was 34-years-old while he played this series. After the failures in England and Australia, he was under the pump and needed to bring out a good performance. But, he failed to do that with only 253 runs in 7 innings.

Soon, he was dropped from the team in early 2013 and hasn’t played a game since then. He retired from all forms of international cricket on his 37th birthday in 2015. Sehwag played the IPL for the Kings XI Punjab and is currently the mentor of the side. He does occasional commentary and is highly active on social media.
