India are the defending champions

Earlier this month, UAE was confirmed as the host of the six-nation tournament. India are the defending champions and their first match is against the qualifier on September 18 in Dubai. In the meantime, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the Indian squad for the Asia Cup will be announced on Saturday, September 1 in Mumbai.

The world’s richest cricket board mentioned that the senior selection committee comprising of MSK Prasad, the chairman of selectors, Sarandeep Singh and Devang Gandhi will meet inside the corridors of the BCCI headquarters at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to select the squad as per reports in MyNation.

Last time around, the event was held in the T20 format bearing mind the T20 World Cup that followed soon after. The Asia Cup is back to its 50-over format. MS Dhoni led the team to glory against Bangladesh in 2016 and the onus will now be on Virat Kohli to help his team successfully defend the title.
