India’s predicted squad for the ODI series against the Windies

The cricketing saga for Team India will continue with a trip to the North American continent later this month. The tour will commence with a couple of T20Is in the USA and then the teams will travel to the island nation, West Indies for the remainder of the matches. The ODI leg of the tour will kickstart at Guyana in the second week of August followed by a couple of ties at Trinidad and Tobago.

It will be the first 50 overs assignment for the Indian team after their loss to New Zealand in the semi-finals of 2019 World Cup. With the selectors keeping an eye on the workload of regular superstars some of the youngsters are going get their due for consistent performances. Again in this 3-match series, the team will be on the lookout for a solid middle-order batsman.

Here is the predicted ODI squad for India

Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the team in the absence of Virat Kohli who is going to be rested. KL Rahul will continue to open the innings as Shikhar Dhawan is undergoing rehabilitation at NCA. Rishabh Pant is probably going to continue as the new No.4 of the team. He will also keep the wickets with uncertainty looming over MS Dhoni’s future.

The middle-order will receive the services of Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill who are in good form playing for India A. Ravindra Jadeja will retain his place after the game-changing performance in World Cup semi-final and Krunal Pandya might sneak in due to his recent 5-wicket haul against Windies A.  Both will complete the all-rounders’ list and Hanuma Vihari and Ishan Kishan will be the batting reserves.

The spin department will be led by Kuldeep Yadav in the absence of Yuzvendra Chahal and the youngster Rahul Chahar might also find a place. The pace battery will be charged with the presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini as Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah deserve a layoff.

Deepak Chahar can be a good option for the team if Hardik Pandya is rested. All in all the team will be lacking experience but they have proved their mettle in the domestic circuit.
