Amazed by his pace, Steve Waugh termed him as the next best thing in Indian cricket. But Sharma never was able to do justice to Waugh&#8217;s praise. After he was unsold, KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir said no one will pay Ishant two crores for bowling four overs.

<p>Well, Gautam Gambhir may not find Ishant&#8217;s price tag of Rs.2 crores for just bowling four overs per match justifiable, but his Kiwi speedster Rs.6 crores were not much impressive either. Boult was impressive for Sunrisers&#8217; Hyderabad in his debut season. But last year, Bangladeshi sensation took his place and he eventually was released by the Sunrisers. KKR bought him with a lot of hope, which remains shattered in the field now.</p>
<p>Though his figures may not be as bad as Sharma, but he has terribly under-performed this season. In 5 matches, he has picked up only four wickets conceding 186 runs. In addition to it, he has leaked runs at an economy of over 9 runs per over. He lost his place to the Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile because of his poor form, as KKR&#8217;s team management will be furious with the decision they made on the auction table a few months ago.</p>
<h4>5. Lasith Malinga &#8211; Mumbai Indians</h4>

<p>Another pacer here, but this time more famous one. Once termed as &#8216;Slinga-Malinga&#8217; for his swinging toe-crushing yorkers, the Sri Lankan bowler has failed to impress the fans this year. It was only two years ago when he picked up 24 wickets and maintained an economy rate of just over 7 runs per over. But his artillery has started to pick up rust, as he just picked up 9 wickets so far playing as many matches.</p>
<p>The once &#8216;feared by all&#8217; bowler was targeted by many batsmen this year. His economy rate this year is as high as nearly 10 runs per over. Though his team Mumbai Indians finished the initial phase of the IPL as table-toppers, it was not much of a joyous campaign for the bowler. The likes of Bumrah and McCleanaghan performed exceptionally to hide his poor numbers, but it will be interesting to see how they will fare in the playoffs if the yorker-king does not up his game a bit.</p>

<p>The Australian team mate of Chris Gayle&#8217;s performance has been as shambolic as Gayle, which sums up RCB&#8217;s season this year. His numbers probably suggest that age has taken a toll on him.
