Defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad will be bolstered by the fact that they defeated a resurgent Kolkata Knight Riders yesterday and all the credit must go to their captain David Warner who blazed his way to a scintillating 126 of a mere 59 deliveries and treated the Hyderabad crowd to some electrifying strokeplay.

It was a mind boggling innings, to say the least, and later the bowlers did their job and restricted KKR to 161 to win the one-sided encounter by 48 runs. Shikhar Dhawan played a good supporting innings and shared a magnificent partnership with Warner. The victory has also allowed them to remain within touching distance of the top two spots.

Youngster Mohammed Siraj bowled with venom and troubled the KKR batsmen on a consistent basis. Siddharth Kaul who has impressed one and all with his immaculate Yorkers did his reputation no harm finishing with impressive figures of 2/26 in his allotted 4 overs. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar spearheading the bowling attack like a king, SRH will look for even better performances at the business end of the tournament.

Delhi, on the other hand, have to win tomorrow’s clash by any means to keep their playoffs hope alive. They have some seriously talented young guns in their ranks but have failed to gel at crucial junctures of the game. Rishabh Pant who looked simply unstoppable in the first few matches is having a lean patch and have failed to put on double figures in the last 3 games.

Their performance in the last match against Kings XI Punjab was simply unacceptable as they were shot out for just 67 runs. Kings XI chased the total down with utmost ease with 12 overs to go. Their bowling line up was dented with the absence of Zaheer Khan but the replacement was a certain Mohammed Shami who is a frontline Indian pacer. So with more than 20 hours to go for the 40th match of the tournament to commence let us have a look at the match predictions.

Here is what Crictracker predicts for the game:

Scenario 1: SRH will win the toss

Toss Prediction: SRH will choose to bowl

First innings prediction: 150-160

2nd innings Prediction: SRH will win by 8 wickets (with 3 overs to spare)

Scenario 2: DD will win the toss

Toss Prediction: DD choose to bowl

First innings Prediction: 185-195

2nd innings Prediction: SRH will win by 35-40 runs.

Head to Head Record

Overall: Total Matches –9, DD Won – 2, SRH Won – 7

Given the current form of Delhi Daredevils and the history between the two sides, the defending champions have a clear edge over the hosts. SRH have won 7 out of their 9 matches against DD and the hosts have to play out of their skin to upstage a much-fancied opposition.

Team Combination

Delhi Daredevils

Captain Zaheer Khan will sit out for yet another time as he is being monitored after sustaining a hamstring injury during the clash against KKR at the Eden Gardens. Given their form, DD might be tempted to make a couple of changes and the Windies duo of Carlos Brathwaite and Marlon Samuels can get a look in place of Sam Billings and Corey Anderson.

The young contingent comprises of some serious talent but they haven’t been able to gel at crucial junctures of the game which has left them at the bottom of the points table. In Zaheer’s absence, Karun Nair is expected to continue the captaincy duties.

Predicted XI: Sanju Samson, Karun Nair (c), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Marlon Samuels, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Morris, Shahbaz Nadeem, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH is unlikely to tinker with their playing XI after their dominating performance against Kolkata. After Mohammad Siraj’s impressive spell the other day along with Siddharth Kaul, veteran left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra will warm the benches.

Predicted XI: David Warner (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Moises Henriques, Yuvraj Singh, Naman Ojha (wk), Bipul Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, Siddharth Kaul

The defending champions are outright favourites for tomorrow’s clash and Delhi has to play out of their skins to overhaul a much-fancied side.
