Jaydev Unadkat initially played for Kolkata Knight Riders and had impressed the former Pakistan fast bowling great Wasim Akram. The retired speedster labelled Unadkat as the bowler to really watch out for in the future. Although he kept giving a few good performances in each season, his best season as a whole by far was the 2017 season in which he played for Rising Pune Supergiants.

He was bought for a mere 30 lakhs but his slow and deceptive bowling was one reason why Supergiants were able to reach the playoffs. He ended the tournament with 24 wickets from 12 games. His performance in the 2017 season made him the most expensive Indian cricketer in the last season, earning him a mind-boggling INR 11.5 crores.

His performance were way below par. Playing 15 games, he could manage to take only 11 wickets at an awful average of 44.18. Retaining Unadkat seems like a long shot since a cycle of inconsistency has crept in which doesn’t guarantee his spot in the playing XI at all.
