IPL 2018 has really been a testing season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and what made it worse is that they could not even pass the test at the end. Having secured only 12 points in 14 matches, RCB finished the tournament in number 6 position on the league board.

But even though the team failed to qualify for the playoffs, star batsman AB de Villiers had a lovely message for his fans, as well as fans of RCB. On Tuesday, AB uploaded a video on his official Instagram account, thanking the fans for their support and assuring them that RCB will come back better and stronger next time.

AB takes the time to thank the fans

“Thanks to all our fans for always standing right behind us!” said AB in the caption. De Villiers started the video by thanking all the RCB fans for having their back throughout the season and supporting them until the end. He also apologised for the performance RCB showed this season, which was in no way up to the mark.

“It’s just a quick video to thank all the RCB fans in Bangalore, in all of India and around the world for supporting us throughout the 2018 season. You guys were always right behind us and carried us a long way. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing season for us, and I’m sorry for that,” AB said.

But he also reassured the fans that RCB will bounce back into the tournament as stronger as ever next year. He credited this year’s IPL to be the one he enjoyed playing the most, even though the results were often not in his team’s favour. In fact, even in the last match against Rajasthan Royals, which killed their chances of going to the playoffs, AB scored a half-century and was the highest scorer for his team.

Here is what AB had to say

“We will come back stronger next year. I believe we have got a fantastic squad, and even though we didn’t play well, it was still the most enjoyable IPL that I have had so far,” he added. “So I have a really good feeling we will come back stronger next year.”

“Enjoy the knoockouts of the IPL. Unfortunately, we won’t be there. It’s a very exciting finish to the tournament. Let’s see, who comes out at the champion. Cheers!” AB concluded on a positive note.

Thanks to all our fans for always standing right behind us! #RCB
