The ongoing mega auctions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has taken an interesting turn as the teams are looking keen on retaining few players. But they’ve also taken a few surprising decisions by letting go off some of the impact players. It was the turn of the bowlers this time around to go under the hammer as they are the eventual match-winners who help their team in defending and restricting the total for their teams. However, Pat Cummins was the fast bowler who went for higher bucks as Chennai Super Kings went for him.

He will earn Rs 5.4 Crore while playing for them in the upcoming edition of IPL. Surprisingly, Delhi Daredevils used their both Right to Match (RTM) cards for the bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Kagiso Rabada. Though many of them went unsold among the fast bowlers which was again a surprising move from the franchises. Mustafizur Rahman and Umesh Yadav found new teams as they were snapped up by Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers respectively.

Spinners spring a surprise

Kolkata Knight Riders surprised everyone by using the Right to Match card (RTM) card for the leg-spinner Piyush Chawla. They retained him for a decent price of Rs. 4.2 Crore and it remains to be seen if the decision proves to be a good one. CSK stole Imran Tahir on his base price for just Rs. 1 Crore and also picked the Indian leg-spinner Karn Sharma for a whopping Rs. 5 Crore.

Rashid Khan was the huge buy though as almost all the franchises tried their best to bag him in the available budget. But in the end, it was Sunrisers Hyderabad who used RTM card for him for a sensational amount of Rs. 9 Crore. Yuzvendra Chahal indeed was going to be retained by RCB and earned Rs. 6 Crore which is a little less given the reputation built by him over the last year. Kuldeep Yadav was the last man in the list and once again it was KKR who used RTM card for him by paying him Rs. 5.8 Crores.
