The IPL Auctions, as they went deep into the day, more players went unsold with no team showing interest in them to play in the league. The same was the fate of the uncapped wicket-keepers as almost all the franchises had picked a specialist in the field earlier in the day. They were completely ignored as only Ishan Kishan, who last year played for Gujarat Lions was picked by Mumbai Indians, though for a hefty amount.
Mumbai Indians didn’t have any wicket-keeper up their sleeves after failing to grab an international player earlier in the day. This fact went in favour of Kishan as they bid aggressively for him during the auction. Chennai Super Kings were also in the race with MI but the latter won the battle, in the end, agreeing to pay a whopping amount of Rs. 6.2 Crores. Even he wouldn’t have expected the amount but the youngster is a really good prospect for India in future.
Aditya Tare also went unsold
The skipper of Mumbai Aditya Tare went unsold surprisingly as he is a decent bet to don the gloves behind the wickets. But the poor T20 season might have gone against him which led to no franchise bidding for him. Even Sheldon Jackson who last year featured in few games for Kolkata Knight Riders wasn’t bought by any team with the list of unsold players for the day increasing consistently. Ranji sensation Prashant Chopra was unlucky as well along with Vishnu Vinod who did exceptionally well in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) last year.
Ankush Bains, Ben McDermott and Jitesh Sharma were the unsold wicket-keepers who are yet to play international cricket.
Here’s the list:
Jitesh Sharma: Unsold
Ishan Kishan: MI – 6.2 Crores
Nikhil Naik: Unsold
Ben McDermott: Unsold
Aditya Tare: Unsold
Ankush Bains: Unsold
Vishnu Vinod: Unsold
Sheldon Jackson: Unsold
Prashant Chopra: Unsold
