Chris Gayle has carved a reputation for being one of most powerful strikers of the cricket leather. Over the course of his illustrious career, the left-handed batsman has decimated oppositions with his ferocious display of stroke-play. One of the main aspects of his batting is that even mistimed balls sail over the ropes and the ones he middles traces into the stands.

The cricketer is currently representing the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played a couple of games thus far against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Meanwhile, the Jamaican has already stamped his authority in the tournament with a couple of match-winning knocks.

He wasn’t included in the playing eleven for the first couple of games, but he was eventually drafted in against the Super Kings where he replaced David Miller. He scored a breezy half-century against MS Dhoni’s men which laid the foundation for a massive score. Punjab eventually won the game and Gayle was crowned as the Player of the Match.

The extravaganza by Chris Gayle

In the game thereafter, he scored the maiden century of this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The opening batsman smashed the Sunrisers’ bowlers across the entire circumference of the stadium. The ton was his sixth in the T20 league and his 21st overall. He was severe on Rashid Khan, the Afghan leg-spinner, which took the sting of the youngster’s leg breaks.

The tweaker was spanked for six sixes by Gayle as he finished with his most expensive spells in IPL cricket. The knock has left everyone dumbstruck and he has been showered his praises for Gayle. Dale Steyn, who currently is recovering from a cal-injury and eyeing a comeback in the national team, has been struck with awe by the batsman’s prowess of clearing the ropes with utter disdain. He wrote

“Amazing! The man is special. But some are calling for a big 6 to be made into 12… I dread to do the math on what scores will be if a Gayle storm hits #byebyestats”
