Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring strain during Chennai Super Kings clash against the Mumbai Indians at the MCA Stadium in Pune on April 28. Thereafter, he was speculated to be ruled out for a couple of weeks. Nevertheless, he has been seen practising at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where CSK will play their next game against the Rajasthan Royals as per reports in news.ibctamil.com.
Chahar has played seven matches thus far in this season’s Indian Premier League and has picked up six wickets, His best bowling figures of 3/15 came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. His return is expected to give a massive boost to the bowling lineup of CSK as he has been able to provide breakthroughs for his team with the new ball.
Chahar’s entry will strengthen CSK’s bowling
He has mostly been entrusted to bowl inside the field restrictions and he hasn’t disappointed MS Dhoni, his skipper, and his franchise one bit. Chahar’s comeback will also mean that Shardul Thakur might not find a place in the eleven. CSK has faced some issues in their bowling department on tracks which had peanuts to offer for the fast bowlers as well as the spinners.
Chahar entered the IPL auction at a base price of INR 20 lakh and the Agra-born fast bowler was eventually roped in by the Yellow Army for INR 80 lakh. Kings XI Punjab and the Delhi Daredevils also bid for him, but CSK had the last laugh. Chennai are currently placed second in the league table with seven victories out of ten matches and are most likely to qualify for the playoffs.
However, they have been a tad erratic, especially in the bowling department where they have been found wanting by the opponents. The franchise would for Chahar to take charge and hit his straps at the earliest, make early inroads and show the form he displayed earlier.
