However, leg-umpire Vineet Kulkarni looked unfazed and completely oblivious to the illegal delivery and granted it as a fair ball without bothering to refer it upstairs, costing SRH an extra run and a free-hit.</p>
<p>Hyderabad eventually lost the game by 4 runs and the team management was supposedly so miffed with the lacklustre attitude shown by the umpire that they had a chat with the match referee and mentioned about the no-ball issue in the captain’s report.</p>
<h3>4. Rumoured tiff between Preity Zinta and Virender Sehwag</h3>

<p>Power tussles between franchise owners and their respective coaches or players isn&#8217;t something new in the history of the IPL. In the early years, there had been rumours of a tussle between KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan and the-then KKR captain Sourav Ganguly over decisive matters regarding the team. In 2018, a rumoured spat between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) owner Preity Zinta and mentor Virender Sehwag made headlines.</p>
<p>The unceremonious defeat that KXIP faced at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) while chasing a paltry target of 159 runs allegedly prompted Zinta to have a verbal showdown with Sehwag. The move to promote KXIP skipper <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ravichandran-ashwin-appreciates-mohammad-amirs-bowling-skills/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Ravichandran Ashwin</strong> </a>up the order on the day backfired as he was dismissed for a duck and Punjab&#8217;s batting crumbled to bits. Zinta is said to have reprimanded the former India opener a little too harshly for having tinkered unnecessarily with the batting order.</p>
<p>However, Zinta vehemently refuted the reports in a subsequent tweet, calling them a &#8220;blown out of proportions&#8221; view of what had actually happened. KXIP co-owner, Mohit Burman claimed that there was no trouble between Zinta and Sehwag, even as rumours of the veteran cricketer being inclined to sever ties with the team over this scandal were doing the rounds.</p>
<h3>5.  Broadcasters showing wrong footage to the TV umpire in MI vs RCB match</h3>

<p>In what can be termed as one of the major controversies of IPL 2018, wrong footage was relayed to the TV umpire owing to an incondonable mistake on the part of the broadcasters, Star Sports. The error was quickly spotted and circulated on micro-blogging platform, Twitter causing an uproar amongst viewers, who questioned the sanctity of the game and the umpiring standards. The match in question was once again the MI vs RCB match that took place at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.</p>
<p>Jasprit Bumrah dismissed <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2018-umesh-yadav-feels-virat-kohlis-inconsistency-affected-rcb-tournament/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Umesh Yadav</strong></a> and the decision was upheld by the TV umpire as the bowler&#8217;s foot was found to be well within the crease in the replays. But here&#8217;s the catch- the replay that was provided to the TV umpire by the broadcasters showed Yadav on the non-striker&#8217;s end right beside Bumrah when the bowler was supposedly bowling him out on the other end! Although the decision din&#8217;t make a significant impact on the game, the broadcaster&#8217;s were called out on social media for having dented the credibility of off-field umpiring significantly.</p>
