Jaydev Unadkat has had an eventful career in the last one year. The left-arm seamer played for the Rising Supergiant and churned out some excellent spells. Meanwhile, he also bagged a hat-trick in the last over against the Sunrisers Hyderabad which helped him get into the limelight. Subsequently, he was also drafted into the Indian limited-overs team.
The Porbandar-born fast bowler made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders when he was bagged by the franchise for $25,000. However, he struggled to stay put in his position in the team. Nevertheless, during his stint with the franchise, he rubbed shoulders with Wasim Akram, KKRs bowling coach and quite expectantly, the pacer sounded happy for his interaction with the Pakistani legend.
“Akram is exceptional”- Unadkat
“I have had some great time with KKR and to be mentored by a legend like Wasim Akram is exceptional. However, the format of the IPL is such that you cannot hold on to one team as the auctions play an important role. However, we learn from such big names and this time around I’m waiting to learn from the legend Shane Warne” Unadkat was quoted as saying by T2Online in an exclusive interview.
Steve Smith had previously been announced as the skipper of the Rajasthan Royals. However, following his one-year ban by Cricket Australia, Ajinkya Rahane has been made the skipper of the team. Unadkat and Rahane played with each other for the Pune franchise and Unadkat hailed him as an efficient prospect for the team’s upcoming journey.
“Surely, we will miss Smith in the dressing room. But we have a great leader in Ajinkya. He’s capable and there’s a lot to learn from him. Royals are ready to perform under his guidance. I have played lots of cricket with Ajinkya. Even in the last season for Pune, I have shared the dressing room with him. We have a really good understanding” he added.
