Ben Stokes faced rough times previously following the physical altercation at a nightclub in Bristol. The cricketer was suspended by the England Cricket Board (ECB) as police investigations were being carried out. However, he had been cleared later by the ECB and subsequently, made his comeback against New Zealand at Hamilton for the five-match ODI series. However, he hasn’t been at his stupendous best after his comeback.
Nevertheless, it is understandable bearing in mind the time he has been out of the game. Recently, he became the highest grosser in the 2018 auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for two consecutive seasons. He had been bagged for a whopping 12.5 crores by the Rajasthan Royals after he entered the auction as a marquee player. He shone in all departments and was a fulcrum of the Rising Pune Supergiant team.
“Big things from him”- Buttler
Subsequently, he emerged as the Player of the Tournament in his debut season. Jos Buttler, who had also been bagged by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 4.40 crores, sounded confident about Stokes’ upcoming stint in the Indian domestic extravaganza in a recent interaction with the media. “Ben will be absolutely fine and more than ready for the IPL. I am expecting some big things from him this time,” Buttler was quoted as saying by TOI.
Stokes has been an integral part of England’s setup in all formats of the game ever since he forayed into international cricket. The English wicketkeeper-batsman also talked about Stokes, being a massive part of England’s lineup.
“He is already back for England in New Zealand and is quite comfortable. He is a huge part of England. It’s great to have him back in the English side as he is one of the best players in the world, Buttler added hailing Stokes.
