There was some splendid cricketing action at the Wankhede stadium yesterday. The Rajasthan Royals managed to pull off a sensational victory to gain a stronghold on the points table. Mumbai Indians lost after a three-game winning streak as they now stand in a tricky situation with certain permutations to go their way if they’re to qualify for the playoffs.

Jos Buttler was elated after scoring a brisky knock of 94* runs from just 53 balls. Sending him to open the innings has turned out to be a masterstroke for Rajasthan this season. He stayed till the end to finish it for the Royals. At the moment, he is the fifth highest run-getter in this year’s IPL with 509 runs.

He shared a picture of him celebrating RR’s victory after finishing things in a style with a sixer. Buttler was later also rewarded the man of the match for the stupendous batting performance against his former team.

Match details

Put to bat first, Mumbai Indians were off to a splendour start. At 87/0 in 10 overs, it seemed that the hosts were looking good for a total near 200. However, Jofra Archer struck twice off consecutive balls to change the momentum. The Mumbai batting lineup lost the plot as they had to settle for a total of 168.

As for Rajasthan, the early wicket didn’t hurt their prospects much. They ended up securing a splendid victory at the Wankhede stadium. Jos Buttler managed to guide them to a fantastic win. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson provided him ample support from the other end.

The visitors went on to win by seven wickets with two overs to spare. The equation is now simple for the Rajasthan Royals who now need to win both their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs. As of Mumbai Indians, they need to win both their games as well as ensure that both Rajasthan and Kolkata lose one of their games.
