After Star Sports India took over the broadcasting rights of this year’s IPL, there had been quite a few changes in the telecast pattern of the pre, mid and post-match shows. ‘Extra Innings’ was replaced by ‘Kent Cricket Live’ and five new faces were brought in to host the IPL 2018. Among them, Mayanti Langer was the only woman, and one of the more prominent faces on the panel.
Mayanti Langer has been hosting sports shows for a while now, and her Twitter bio reads, “blessed to have hosted 6 World Cups in 3 different sports”, which is quite an achievement. She is in charge of the English broadcasting of the tournament, where you will find all the big names of commentary like Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle and Michael Vaughan, and she has been doing her job spectacularly.
No doubt she hit it off immediately with the fellow hosts, and especially the commentators and guest experts on the show. She has already worked with most of them being in the circuit for some time now. One of the fan-favourites among them is Kevin Pietersen, who is loved for his wit and charm while on the mic, and also off it.
On Sunday, the two of them were working together on the afternoon match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils. KP posted a selfie of the two on his Twitter account, thanking and praising Mayanti heartily for being such a “brilliant host”.
Here is the tweet
His message was, “Thank you @MayantiLanger_B for being such an incredibly brilliant host this IPL. Absolute pleasure to work with you! So professional! A @StarSportsIndia gem!”

Mayanti returned the favour in a playful banter, returning the compliments as well. Also, they are apparently both fans of the DJ who is in charge of music in the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, which we can only assume is an inside joke they must have shared during work.
Ok..theek..hai..thank you KP! 🤭 had so much fun working with you @KP24 and good to know we are both fans of the Kotla DJ! https://t.co/yzeyPXTlLp
