Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth believes that the Sunrisers have done a great job thus far and are not missing David Warner much. Many touted that the team would fall apart with Warner not being a part of the team, but as it turned out, they won their first three games in dramatic style and are in the top half of the table comfortably.

Despite registering three wins on the trot, Srikkanth reckons they are a little too reliant on Shikhar Dhawan at the top to score runs. He wants other players like Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda to score some big runs in the middle overs as well. Having accepted a fact that Williamson is a class act, he believes there are certain limitations to his game in T20 cricket.

“SRH have got things going swimmingly smooth. Where I would like them to be tested is: chasing a stiff target. If the first three games are an indicator, a target in excess of 170 could really put the skids on them,” Srikkanth wrote in his column for Times of India.

“As much as the team management would like to say that they don’t miss David Warner, I think the truth is a touch off. At the moment the batting is too heavily reliant on Shikhar Dhawan. Yes, Kane Williamson is a class act, but his style of play does come in with a few limitations (in T20s),” He added.

Tonight clash will show a mirror to both sides

Srikkanth believes that both Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who will lock horns tonight in Mohali, will get a reality check as to how strong they are. Both sides have been in terrific form, but the former Indian opener feels this game will reflect the strengths and weaknesses of each side.

“The clash this evening could well be holding the mirror to both the sides and their respective strengths and weaknesses. It’s also Kings XI’s final game in Mohali this season and I am sure they would like to leave with an all-win record. Both these sides have proved tough nuts to crack once they have a head start.”
