The 2018 edition is all set to get underway. The action starts on April 7 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Prior to the season opener, a grand Opening Ceremony is set to take place. The audiences are looking forward to the gala event. Recently, the organizers had to make some changes in the list of celebrities who would perform at the mega event.
Among the big names that would sizzle on the stage in front of the live audience is Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. Hrithik is gearing up for his performance and has started off his rehearsals as well. Recently, he confirmed the same and admitted that he is looking forward to the opportunity. Along with Hrithik, the two other Bollywood celebrities performing at the Opening Ceremony are Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez.
“Yes, I can officially confirm that I will be performing for the opening ceremony of IPL. I have already started rehearsing for it. It will be fun to perform in front of a live audience once again,” Hrithik Roshan told the Hindustan Times.
Stars who miss out
Interestingly, the organizers had earlier planned to rope in Parineeti Chopra for the live performance. But the actress had to pull out of the event owing to her packed schedule. She is having multiple assignments in hand already, due to which she had to give up on the opportunity to perform at the IPL 2018 Opening Ceremony.
“Parineeti Chopra was to perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony. She was shooting non-stop for Namaste England in Patiala and had back-to-back, pre-committed endorsement commitments. So, unfortunately, she did not have enough time to rehearse in spite of her best efforts,” Parineeti’s spokesperson released a statement on the actresses’ behalf, as quoted by NDTV.
“Being a thorough professional, Parineeti spoke to Wizcraft and explained to them that she was not ok putting up a compromised performance. Wizcraft has been gracious enough to understand this and agrees with Parineeti. She would not be performing at the gala opening,” the spokesperson added.
Also, it was earlier announced that Ranveer Singh would be performing at the opening ceremony. However, Ranveer had to cancel out the plans due to a shoulder injury. The Opening Ceremony will start at 5 PM (IST).
“Thank you for the good wishes everyone. I’m good. Its just a labral tear in my left shoulder. I intend to come back stronger. Love you all,” Ranveer Singh confirmed in a tweet.
