Actress Parineeti Chopra is the latest celebrity after Ranveer Singh to withdraw from performing at the forthcoming opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that was scheduled on April 7, Saturday. She feels she is not prepared enough since she was tied up with shooting for her next film Namaste England.

In the case of Ranveer Singh, earlier this week, his representative said that the actor was advised by doctors against performing at the gala to avoid aggravating a shoulder injury. The 32-year-old had been advised so as to not overstrain his shoulder, which he injured during a football match.

No time to rehearse

“Parineeti was shooting non-stop for ‘Namastey England’ in Patiala and had back-to-back pre-committed endorsement commitments. So, unfortunately, she did not have enough time to rehearse in spite of her best efforts,” the actress’ spokesperson said in a statement.

“Being a thorough professional, Parineeti spoke to Wizcraft (show producers) and explained to them that she was not okay putting up a compromised performance. Wizcraft has been gracious enough to understand this and agrees with Parineeti. She would not be performing at the gala opening,” the spokesperson added, as reported by News 18.

Ranveer, after multiple medical check-ups, was strongly advised to not perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony in which he was supposed to do the finale act. They feel his high-energy performance would only overstrain his shoulder and aggravate the injury,” his spokesperson said in a statement.

Among those performing in the gala event will be Hrithik Roshan, who will be replacing Ranveer, as confirmed by the former. Hrithik said in a press statement, “Yes I can officially confirm that I will be performing for the opening ceremony of IPL. I have already started rehearsing for it. It will be fun to perform in front of a live audience once again.”

It will be followed by Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Tamannah Bhatia. Last year, the Indian Premier League opening ceremony had Bollywood celebs like Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Disha Patani, Amy Jackson and Riteish Deshmukh performing at the opening ceremony.
