Chennai Super Kings moved to the top of the points table with a huge 64-run win against the Rajasthan Royals at their new home ground in Pune. Shane Watson’s 57-ball 106 helped CSK to finish with a big total of 204/5 on the board. They reached the 150-run mark by the 13th over but some tight bowling by RR bowlers ensured things didn’t get out of their reach. The Rajasthan Royals were off to a disastrous start losing their top three batsmen by 5th over in the big run-chase. Middle and lower order batsmen couldn’t make any big difference as they crawled to 140 before getting bowled out.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded during CSK’s huge win over RR:

1Shane Watson became the first player to score a century for and against two different sides in the IPL. Watson’s first century in the IPL came while playing for RR against CSK in 2013. Watson scored for Chennai against Rajasthan in this game. Chris Gayle could join this elite list if he scores a century for KXIP when he faces RCB.

2 – This match is only the 2nd in the history of IPL with a no-ball on the very first ball of the game. Stuart Binny bowled a front foot no-ball to Shane Watson on the first ball of the match. Jayant Yadav bowled no-ball to David Warner on the first ball off the SRH-DD game in 2017.

3 – Shane Watson became the 5th player to score three centuries in the IPL. Chris Gayle (6) and Virat Kohli (4) are the only players to score more than three IPL centuries. AB de Villiers and David Warner also hit three tons in the IPL.

14 – Chennai Super Kings now holds the record for the most number of 200+ totals in the IPL. They surpassed Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s tally of 13 totals of 200 and more in the IPL. This was the 3rd time CSK made 200 and more against RR in the IPL.

106 – Shane Watson’s 106 is the 2nd highest individual score in the T20 games at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Mumbai’s Shoaib Shaikh scored 110 against Gujarat in 2015 Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament game.

Watson’s 106 is the 4th highest individual score and the 6th century recorded for CSK in the IPL. This is also the 4th IPL century for any player against RR and also the first against them since Murali Vijay’s 127 for CSK in 2010.

204/5 – Chennai Super Kings’ total of 204/5 is the 2nd highest total in the Twenty20 format at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Delhi Daredevils made 205/4 against the Rising Pune Supergiant during the last year’s game.
