The Chennai Super Kings registered a thrilling win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru. In the run fest, the visitors managed to chase down a record total of 205 for the win. The major architects of their win were Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni. Dhoni, the veteran superstar, showed why one can never write off a legend.

MS Dhoni stayed till the very end to ensure that his side was over the line on the day. CSK struggled at 74/4 after the end of the 9th over when MS Dhoni had walked out to bat. He stitched a 101 run stand with Ambati Rayudu to bring the visitors back in the game. Rayudu scored a key 82 off 53 deliveries but it was MS Dhoni who took the game away from RCB on the day.

He scored an unbeaten 70 off 34 deliveries with a four and 7 sixes to his name. He finished the game with a thundering six over the long on. Earlier in the game, the Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a good total of 205/8 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Quinton de Kock scored 53 in the innings and AB de Villiers top scored with a 30-ball 68 on the day. In the bowling department, Imran Tahir, Shardul Thakur, and Dwayne Bravo scalped two wickets each for Chennai Super Kings.

Shane Watson – 1/10

Shane Watson had a tough time with the bat on the day. RCB did their homework and brought in Pawan Negi to bowl against Watson. Negi managed to dismiss Watson for the third time in the history of the IPL. Watson could only score 7 with the bat. Earlier in the game, with the ball, he bowled just two overs and ended up conceding 21 runs.

Ambati Rayudu – 9.5/10

Ambatu Rayudu is a total teamman. Rayudu was back at the top of the order for CSK in the game. He did not disappoint and scored a brilliant 82 off just 53 balls with 3 fours and 8 sixes to his name. While wickets kept tumbling from one end, Rayudu held the fort for CSK in tough situation.

Suresh Raina – 1/10

Suresh Raina played two very good innings in the previous two matches. He, however, failed to back it up with another one. Raina perished early in the game after scoring just 11. He will hope to come good in the coming fixtures now.

Sam Billings – 2/10

Sam Billings had a very good opportunity to become the star for his team yet again. But the Englishman tried to attack a little too early in the game. He was stumped off a delivery bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal at the score of 9. Earlier in the game, he took a very good catch to dismiss AB de Villiers.

Ravindra Jadeja – 2/10

Ravindra Jadeja got a promotion in the game but he largely wasted the opportunity. He came in to bat at number 5, ahead of MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo. He perished after scoring 3 and could not read the spin deliveries on the day. With the ball, he bowled two overs and gave away 22 runs. He took a couple of catches too to go along with a run out in the innings.

MS Dhoni – 9.5/10

MS Dhoni proved yet again why he is revered as the best finisher in the game.Dhoni came in to bat in a tricky situation and managed to hold his calm at the crease. He added 101 runs for the fifth wicket with Rayudu. After Rayudu’s dismissal, he ensured that the team crossed the line and remained unbeaten on 70 off just 34 balls. His knock was studded with a four and seven brutal sixes.

Dwayne Bravo – 8.5/10

Dwayne Bravo played a little cameo with the bat. He came in to bat in the 18th over and hit a crucial six and a four in the final over of the game. His unbeaten 14 off 7 balls eased a lot of pressure from the shoulders of MS Dhoni. Earlier in the game, he had returned with figures of 2/33 in his four overs, including a maiden to his name.

Harbhajan Singh – 1/10

Harbhajan Singh did not have a lot of work to do in the game. He bowled in the powerplays and was taken away for 24 runs. AB de Villiers targeted him in the game. He bowled only two overs in the match and was not given his complete quota of overs.

Imran Tahir – 7/10

Imran Tahir bowled really well in the match. It was the 15th over of the RCB innings that halted the run flow on the day. Imran Tahir brought Chennai Super Kings back in the game by dismissing the set AB de Villiers in the over. On the very next delivery, he dismissed Corey Anderson. Tahir finished with figures of 2/35 in his four overs.

Shardul Thakur – 6/10

Shardul Thakur has constantly been under the pump in the recent times. In this game, he was again taken away for a lot of runs. Thakur conceded as many as 46 runs in the four overs that he bowled. He, however, had succeeded earlier by dismissing Virat Kohli. Later, he accounted for the wicket of Mandeep Singh as well.

Deepak Chahar – 3/10

Deepak Chahar has been doing the new ball duties for the Chennai Super Kings this season. Chahar bowled two decent overs up front in the game. In the two overs that he bowled, he gave away 20 runs. He did not get a wicket in the match.
