The Mumbai Indians were in a must-win situation against the table toppers CSK last night and they brought out their A game at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium to beat the bitter rivals easily by 8 wickets and climb up from the bottom of the points table to no. 6.

It was a near perfect game for Mumbai as both their batting and bowling clicked together and for once, they managed to keep their nerves as well towards the latter phase of the game. Rohit Sharma, the skipper, led from the front with a stroke-filled half-century batting at no. 3 and saw the visitors over the line in a chase of 170.

CSK, although this loss won’t hurt them too much as they have already won 5 games and are in a great position to qualify for the playoffs, would still be a tad disappointed with their efforts, especially in the bowling department. While the total they posted on the board was clearly under par, they would have liked their bowlers to make it tougher for the MI batters who were short on confidence and under a little bit of pressure ahead of this game.

But in the end, it turned out to be a cake-walk for Mumbai as they paced the chase beautifully and then delivered the knockout punch in the 19th over of Shardul Thakur to kill the game. What CSK needed was to chip away with a few wickets in the middle overs which they couldn’t and therefore failed to create the pressure of the required run rate which never mounted to a significant level.

The Mumbai Indians fans have had to cope with a lot of trolls this IPL due to the consecutive losses their team suffered, however, last night was their opportunity to get back at the trolls as they came up with some really hilarious memes and gifs mocking the MI detractors.
