The Chennai Super Kings got back to the winning ways with a clinical 6 wicket win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Pune. It was a day game which saw the hosts dominate the proceedings in all the three departments on the day. With the win, CSK soar back to the top of the points table. On the other hand, the road for the Royal Challengers Bangalore has got tougher after the defeat.
In the match, it was CSK skipper MS Dhoni who won the toss and opted to bowl first. His bowlers responded very well by taking wickets at regular intervals. Barring Parthiv Patel, who hit a valuable 53, no other batsman could show resilience at the crease. The Royal Challengers Bangalore somehow crawled to 127 in their 20 overs after Tim Southee contributed with an unbeaten 36 towards the end.
In the run chase, the Chennai Super Kings lost Shane Watson early. But Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu steadied the ship with good contributions. But yet again, the man who took the limelight was MS Dhoni. Dhoni finished with an unbeaten 31 in the match to ensure that his side was over the line with 6 wickets in hand.

Shane Watson – 2/10
Shane Watson had an off day with the bat on the day. He could only score 11 in the 14 deliveries that he faced. Earlier in the game, his services with the ball were not needed as the front line bowlers performed very well for Chennai Super Kings in the match.
Ambati Rayudu – 6/10
Ambati Rayudu has been one of the consistent performers for the Chennai Super Kings this season. Rayudu opened the innings in this particular game and played well for his 32 that came off 25 deliveries. After the early exit of Shane Watson, Rayudu steadied the ship for CSK with Suresh Raina.
Suresh Raina – 5/10
Suresh Raina has been in a decent form this season. The veteran campaigner continued with his decent show on the day as well. He was slow to get going but ended with a score of 25 to his name. His knock came of 21 balls and his innings was a crucial cameo in the run chase.
Dhruv Shorey – 1/10
Dhruv Shorey made his IPL debut in the match. He had a very good opportunity to show his mettle at the big stage. But the Delhi batsman largely disappointed and ended up getting dismissed with a single digit score to his name.
MS Dhoni – 9/10
The good form of MS Dhoni continued to rule in the match as well. Dhoni finished with an unbeaten 31 off just 23 deliveries in the game. He hit three sixes in the 18th over bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal to seal the fate of the game for the Chennai Super Kings. Also, he was top notch with his captaincy moves on the day.
Ravindra Jadeja – 9.5/10
Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for the Chennai Super Kings in the match. He started off exceedingly well by dismissing the big man from the opposition, Virat Kohli. He shattered the woodwork of the RCB skipper with a quicker one. He backed it up with the wickets of Mandeep Singh and Parthiv Patel. In the four overs that he bowled, he returned with figures of 3/18.
Dwayne Bravo – 3/10
Dwayne Bravo did not have a lot to do in the game. Bravo bowled just two overs on the day and ended up conceding 17 runs. He failed to contain Tim Southee in the final overs of the RCB innings. His services with the bat were not needed by Chennai Super Kings on the day.
David Willey – 8/10
English speedster David Willey got his first opportunity to play in the season in his particular game. It is safe to say that the Englishman had a decent debut. He dismissed Colin de Grandhomme in the match and returned with figures of 1/24 in his quota of four overs. Also, he made his presence felt on the field by taking a catch and inflicting a run out.
Harbhajan Singh – 9/10
Veteran campaigner Harbhajan Singh brought all his experience to good use on the day. Harbhajan dismissed AB de Villiers with a very good delivery on the day. The wicket of ABD was a big one in the context of the game. Harbhajan also dismissed Murugan Ashwin later in the game. He finished with figures of 2/22 in the four overs that he bowled.
Shardul Thakur – 2/10
Shardul Thakur did not get an opportunity to bowl a lot in the game. He only bowled a couple of overs in the match. He returned with figures of 0/19. In the death overs, Tim Southee took special liking to him and ended up adding crucial runs to the RCB tally.
Lungi Ngidi – 8/10
Lungi Ngidi had a decent time with the ball in the match. He continued his good form with the ball and returned with figures of 1/24 in the four overs that he bowled on the day. He bagged the big wicket of Brendon McCullum early on in the innings.
