KL Rahul, Kings XI Punjab‘s costliest buy of the season came to their rescue to take them close to a top-four finish with the 6-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals. A mixture of poor batting and tight bowling from KXIP spinners in the middle overs restricted the visiting side to just 152/9. Kings XI didn’t get to the target easily as they were four down for 87 runs and needed 43 runs in the last four overs to win the contest. However, Rahul scored 34 runs in ten balls after completion of his fifty and took the home team through the target with eight balls to spare.

Here we look at the stats and numbers that were recorded during Kings XI Punjab’s 6th win of the season:

2 – Only the 2nd time since the start of 2012 that Ajinkya Rahane batted at No.3 or lower position in the IPL. He batted at No.3 in the 2014 edition game against Chennai Super Kings where he scored 4 off 7 balls.

7 – The chasing teams continued their 100% success record at the Holkar Stadium in Indore as all the seven IPL matches have been won by the chasing sides.

17y 39d – At the age of 17 years and 39 days, Mujeeb Ur Rahman became the youngest player to receive a Man of the Match award. The previous youngest player to receive a MoM in the IPL was Washington Sundar in the 2017 edition at the age of 17 years and 229 days.

23 – The 23-run opening stand between Chris Gayle and KL Rahul is the lowest in the six matches they have batted together in this season. They put on fifty-plus stands in each of the previous five matches and could have become the first pair with six consecutive fifty-plus partnerships had they succeeded in doing against RR as well.

44 – KL Rahul‘s 44-ball fifty in this game is his slowest fifty in the IPL. His previous slowest fifty was off 42 balls against MI in the 2016 season.
