The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are in a precarious position as far as qualifying for the playoffs is concerned. They are languishing at the bottom of the table. They will be playing their next game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur where they have a stupendous record over the years. However, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), their opponents for the game, have been on a rampage.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s men have six wins out of their nine games and are looking poised to progress to the next round. Their last match was against the same opponents whom they have beaten comprehensively courtesy of KL Rahul’s master-class of a knock and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s guile and trajectory. They would be looking to replicate the performance in the upcoming game as well.

Meanwhile, the Royals have been all over the place and desperately need a victory in order to keep their hopes alive. They have bowled decently, however, apart from Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson, the remaining batsmen haven’t been consistent enough to help RR’s cause to climb the ladder. Punjab will also be keen to turn over the hosts and strengthen their chances of qualification.

Can the venue survive the aftermath of rain?

From morning 11 am to evening 6 pm, there are constant chances of rain. From 1 pm to 3 pm the probability raises even more with thunderstorms. To the players’ relief, the heavens would calm down from 7 pm onwards. However, the clouds are likely to hover over the venue throughout the match. Humidity won’t be a concern with the numbers between 33 percent and 48 percent.

Overall verdict

Rajasthan will want two points, more so as they have the most dreadful net run-rate among the eight teams. They would want the rain to stay away and not play spoilsport to their all-important encounter against the might of Punjab.
