The Chennai Super Kings have had an impressive campaign thus far in the Indian Premier League. They have won seven out of their ten games and are sitting pretty at the second position of the league table. The franchise has been clinical throughout the tournament in all departments and most importantly, every player, at some point of time, has always put their hands up and contributed for the team.
They have been involved in quite a few nail-biting encounters, but they haven’t let the situations get a stranglehold on their nerves. Instead, they came out trumps and outdrew anyone and everyone who stumbled on to their path. CSK played last against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (MCA) in Pune, which they comprehensively won by six wickets.
Their bowling has been a major concern, but against RCB, they stood tall to the challenges and ripped their batting apart. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh made inroads into their star-studded batting lineup. During the run-chase, they found themselves in all sorts of trouble, however, they telecasted resilience and brushed the visitors aside.
Dhoni’s men on the brink of qualification
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni, their enigmatic skipper, has played a crucial role in their journey. The Jharkhand-born cricketer is presently their second highest run scorer with 360 runs at an incredible strike-rate of 165.89. Moreover, he has smashed 27 sixes, which is his personal best achievement across all ten seasons of the cash-rich league.
Chennai’s upcoming game will be against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Friday and a victory would virtually help them qualify for the playoffs. The match is a couple of days away, but MS Dhoni has already reached the city along with wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva. A fan page of MSD posted their picture on Twitter.
