Kings XI Punjab registered a comfortable win against Rajasthan Royals with KL Rahul registering his highest ever IPL score. Rahul anchored the run chase with his unbeaten 84 of 54 at the Holkar in Indore. Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s 3/27 and Rahul’s impressive knock resulted in KXIP reaching third in the points table. The youngster Mujeeb received the Man of the match award for his tidy bowling.

Winning the toss, Ashwin decided to field first. The Royals fumbled right from the beginning. They lost D’Arcy Short in the very first over. Except for Jos Buttler, no other RR batsmen managed to cross the thirty mark. Buttler’s 51 helped the touring party put on a decent target. However, as soon as Buttler got out in the 15th over, the RR middle order couldn’t withstand Kings XI Punjab‘s bowling.

KL Rahul’s masterclass:

The KXIP opener, Rahul’s knock of 84 included seven fours and three huge sixes. He kept his composure and remained unbeaten in the six wickets victory. Chasing the target of 153, Punjab started off steadily. While Rahul was settling down, the Kings XI lost Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal in consequent overs. Rahul partnered with Karun Nair and steadied the chase. They added 50 runs for the third wicket. With Stonis’ cameo at the end, KXIP overpowered RR by six wickets.
