IPL 2018: Rishabh Pant's effusive praise for Shaw will surely inspire the youngster

Delhi Daredevils (DD) prevailed in the last-ball thriller against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Ferozshah Kotla Stadium on Wednesday. The encounter was rain-marred and in the end, the chase was curtailed only to 12 overs in which the visitors had to make 151 runs to win. The target was too high for them courtesy some splendid batting from the future trio of the Indian team. The likes Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant blazed their way with the bat which helped their side score close to 200 runs until the 18th over.

Shaw played an enterprising knock of 47 runs off just 25 balls which laid the platform for Iyer and Pant to go bonkers over the opposition bowlers without any fear. It was Pant’s blitz of 69 runs which propelled Delhi to 196 before forced a premature end to their innings. The score proved enough to beat the Royals who eventually fell short of their revised target by just 4 runs. Though he received the Man of the Match award, Pant has praised Shaw for his commitment and dedication towards the game.

He has been brilliant from the first day

Rishabh Pant, while speaking after the game, was effusive in praise of the 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw and believed that it was the platform set by him at the top which helped them go for runs later. “He was brilliant from day one. Just that he was not getting a chance. He was practising very well though. And when he got a chance he capitalised on it,” he said. He also went on to say that the duo of Iyer and Shaw did a good job after losing the wicket of Colin Munro early.

“Everyone has a different role in the team. They (Shaw and Iyer) are playing up the order so they have to maintain the run rate. They are doing a pretty good job. And after that, I’m coming in and doing my job. There is no such brief actually. Everyone is just taking the responsibility for the team,” Pant added.
