Mumbai Indians are the winner of three championships in the Indian Premier League and hence, they are the team with the most number of titles in the history of the tournament. Rohit Sharma has been astounding as a player and has been the leader on all three occasions.

Over the last few seasons, they have boasted off some skilful players in the ranks including the likes of Lasith Malinga. Mitchell McClenaghan has also played few seasons for the Mumbai Indians and impressed for them. He notched quite a few scalps and has ruffled the feathers of batsmen with his pace and bounce.

However, he was released by the franchise ahead of the auction for this edition. Moreover, he remained unsold after he entered the auction with a base price of INR 1 crore. However, lady luck smiled on the New Zealand fast bowler as he was roped in by the franchise after Jason Behrendorff was ruled out owing to a back injury.

“A great asset”- Rohit

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has praised the Black Cap for his exploits with the leather for the franchise in a promotional event. “He (McClenaghan) is a great asset and he has been a performer for us. Due to some mishap during the IPL auction, we were not able to get him. But now we have got him and we are very excited to have him back. He has been a great performer for us,” Rohit remarked.

The cricketer also spoke about legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s illustrious journey with the team in the last ten seasons. Harbhajan has been a fulcrum of the Mumbai franchise ever since the inception of the tournament has been one of their gun bowlers. “We will miss Harbhajan. His experience has been immense and he has been a great asset for our team. We will definitely miss him,” he added as quoted by TOI.
