Rishabh Pant won the ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ award of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year for his exploits with the bat. The left-hander was present at the Wankhede Stadium to collect his award and was all smiles when he was on the stage. It was a proud moment for him who was criticised for not being his usual self before the season started and he has proved everyone wrong. However, his sister Sakshi Pant’s heart was filled with proud after her brother won the special awards on the night.
Rishabh was absolutely sensational batting at number 4 for Delhi Daredevils (DD) this year. Many eyebrows were raised when he was retained by the franchise but it was a masterstroke in the end. There is a lot of talent in this 20-year-old and he brought everything to the fore during the 14 matches he played this season. One would only feel sad for him that his team didn’t perform to the potential and ended up being the wooden spooners this year.
Proud sister
Rishabh Pant was the second highest run-getter of the tournament with 684 runs in 14 matches at an amazing average of 52.52 and a jaw-dropping strike-rate of 173.60. He was the epitome of consistency for his team and if he would’ve got the support from his teammates, the Daredevils would’ve had a wonderful season. The Emerging player award is given for the future star and no wonder Rishabh has an ability to be one of them in the recent years. He also won the ‘Stylish Player of the Season’ award for his constant heroics with the bat and behind the wickets.
The relation of a brother and a sister is always very close and for Rishabh, it must be an overwhelming fact that his sister is absolutely proud of him after what he achieved in the tournament. Sakshi Pant was extremely happy for him after winning the two awards on the night of the final and took to twitter saying, “Offcourse yes! I’m proud you brother @RishabPant777 #IPL2018.”
Here’s Sakshi’s tweet:
