The Kolkata Knight Riders ended the campaign of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2018. The Knight Riders beat the Royals by 25 runs in the knockout game, the Eliminator in Kolkata. Obviously, the defeat was a heartbreak for the Royals. Their players, their skipper Ajinkya Rahane, their mentor Shane Warne, and everybody else in the management were left disappointed with the defeat.

Coming in to the game, all odds were against the Rajasthan Royals. They arrived in to the game on a jittery form. On the contrary, the Knight Riders came in to the game on some serious confidence. Moreover, the match was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the home venue for the Knight Riders. On the match day, some fortunes went the way of the Royals. They won the toss and they actually dictated terms in the game for the major part of the game.

It was only in the last 8 overs of the match that the game turned upside down. All of a sudden, the Kolkata Knight Riders were in firm command of the game. At one stage, with Sanju Samson and Ajinkya Rahane at the crease, it looked like an easy chase for the Men in Blue. It was right then that the KKR bowlers started taking their time to get things going.

Absolutely unhappy with the moves, the RR mentor, Shane Warne, had some words to say to Dinesh Karthik, the KKR skipper. Warne was totally unhappy with the time delaying tactics as it broke the momentum of the batsmen. Whether DK intended it or not, the delaying tactics did work in the favor of KKR.

Here is how Shane Warne had reacted during the game:

“Come on you @rajasthanroyals ! We’ve got this 83 of 60 balls with 9 wkts in hand ! If my man @IamSanjuSamson gets 70+ as predicted & the skipper Jinx keeps a cool head then we’ve got this ! Ps how annoying is the KKR skipper DK, get on with the game please !” Shane Warne had written during the game.
