The Delhi Daredevils enjoyed a mixed season this time around. Albeit, they are not in contention for the playoffs, the franchise can still play a clinical role in deciding the top 4 teams. After a series of defeats at the start of their IPL 2018 campaign, Gautam Gambhir stepped down from his captaincy role as Delhi Daredevils stared at Shreyas Iyer hoping that fortunes would change for them in the remainder of the tournament.
Interestingly, Delhi witnessed a rejuvenation in form but then it fell again causing them to be the first team to be officially eliminated from IPL 2018. Despite everything, there was a silver lining for Iyer who had his dream come true when he found MS Dhoni beside him at toss time during Delhi versus Chennai game in Pune.
However, on the eve of the reverse fixture, Iyer took to his Instagram account to post the picture revealing that ‘unreal’ moment during his journey as a skipper in IPL 2018. Iyer posted an emotional message saying, “I was just 10 years old when Mahi bhai made his debut for Team India. Have always looked up to him as a leader and as a player. Standing beside him for the toss the other night in Pune was unreal. Tonight is another such night. Wish us the best and come support us at Kotla.”

Iyer beats Dhoni as captain
Shreyas Iyer once again found himself alongside MS Dhoni for the toss when Chennai took on Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium last night. While it was a matter of pride for Delhi to win the remaining two matches in their IPL 2018 fixture, a win Chennai would have ensured a top-two finish for them in the league.
Iyer, however, fared well as the better captain for the night, defeating Dhoni’s CSK by 34 runs. Iyer himself has also enjoyed a tremendous season, amassing 235 runs in six matches.
