The Cauvery Water Dispute has been a major conundrum in Tamil Nadu over the years. Recently, celebrities like Rajinikanth has urged for the game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be shifted out of Chennai. Also. he requested for the players and the audience to wear black arm-bands to show their protest over the long-lasting issue, provided Chennai hosts the games.

However, the situation has recently worsened as a pro-Tamil outfit by the name of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) has emerged as a major threat to the hosting of the games at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. As per reports in Times Now, Velmurugan, the chief of TVK, has threatened to let loose snakes at the Chepauk if the match between the Chennai and Kolkata takes place.

A tight security for today’s game

The TVK has vowed that the protesters will be a detriment to today’s match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Meanwhile, the police in Chennai has been alerted about the threats and they will be taking precautionary measures accordingly and the authorities have already put forward some stern restrictions before the game.

One cannot carry any types of electronic equipment like laptops, mobile phones, remote controlled car keys, cameras and any type of bags inside the stadium. The restrictions come in light of the probable hurdles, they might be encountering during the games in the city, which is pretty justified. There will also be a staggering 4000 police officers in charge to ensure smooth conduct of the match.

The fans in Chennai haven’t had the privilege to watch their team wield their magic for the past couple of years. CSK was banned for a couple of years owing to match-fixing scandals and the crowd in Chennai would be itching to watch Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his boys take charge on the cricket pitch.
