Delhi Daredevils batsman Rishabh Pant was the talk of the town after slamming an impressive 128 from just 63 deliveries. Although the performance was amazing, to say the least, the Sunrisers Hyderabad did prevail in the encounter, thus securing their much-awaited place in the playoffs of the Indian Premier (IPL) 2018.

In spite of the loss, the fact that Pant had such an impressive hand in digging the Delhi Daredevils out to the rut they were in is impressive on its own. The southpaw smashed the ball to all parts in his innings, something that many are used to witnessing from him in recent times.

Even Dilip Vengsarkar was in awe of the youngster. “I saw his innings yesterday. He played superbly. Some of the shots he played were very innovative. I thought he played extremely well,” he praised.

The Delhi connection apparent

Former Delhi batsman Virender Sehwag went ahead and praised the youngster following his innings. Sehwag, who now serves as the director of cricket for the Kings XI Punjab was in absolute awe of Pant. Moreover, it would also seem as though the latter has now proved his doubters wrong following what was a terrible outing with the bat in the Nidahas Trophy.

He wrote, “Really special innings from Rishabh. Those were not bad balls from Bhuvi in the last over barring the last full toss, but Rishabh Pant is really special and I hope he is nurtured well. #DDvSRH.”

Even Suresh Raina was clearly impressed by the youngster and the manner in which he went about his innings. He wrote, “Can’t believe what I just saw! Still remember the 97 he scored against GL last year. Unbelievable hitting from @RishabPant777. Great going my boy. Keep it up. #DDvSRH #IPL2018.”
