The eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League has been one of the most closely fought editions in the history of the Indian Premier League. The is very little to separate between the top and the bottom teams. Fans have got to witness quite a few nail-biting finishes. The excitement and entertainment that was present at the start of the IPL seem to get bigger day by day as we head into the last two matches of the season.
The Chennai Super Kings defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1 to make a direct entry to the finals. The yellow brigade finished second in the points table due to their inferior net run rate as compared to the table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the Eliminator, the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Rajasthan Royals to set up a clash with SRH in Qualifier 2.
KKR raring to go on the field
The Winner of Qualifier 2 will face the Chennai Super Kings in the final match to be held at the Wankhede. The Kolkata Knight Riders will be hoping that the rain gods do not play spoilsport as in case of washout, SRH will progress to the finals since they finished above KKR in the league phase. Rain threat looms large at the Eden Gardens and it may bring bad news to KKR fans. Two days back, we witnessed a full 20-over game in the Eliminator and KKR will be expecting to be treated with similar weather conditions.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been a little off-colour in their last few games as they have been failing to get over the line consistently. Their opponents Kolkata Knight Riders are in red-hot form and are coming on the back of good wins. While the momentum is clearly on KKR side, they cannot take it lightly against the Sunrisers.
SRH’s bowling is back to its best again and KKR will be wary of the power possessed by Kane Williamson in his ranks.
