The twelfth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has been in talks since after teams started making use of the first trade window. It included a few trades and lastly finished with franchises retaining and releasing the players ahead of the upcoming auction, which is scheduled at Jaipur on December 18.

The day-long event will cover 70 slots, with each team having specified places to fill. It would give each franchise a chance to overcome their squad issues while, on the other hand, players like always see auction as an exciting tool. It not only serves them financially but plays an important role in shaping their careers.

Meanwhile, the auction will be as crucial for Mumbai Indians who failed to break into the final four last season. The three-time champions had a decent team though missed out at a few things, which they would be aiming to settle in IPL 2019. Having the salary cap of 11.2 crores, they will contest for 7 slots- 6 Indian and One Overseas.

1. Glenn Maxwell

When it comes to playing fearless cricket and hitting big sixes, Maxwell surely comes to one’s mind. The strong Aussie lad has a legacy of keeping the spectators on toes while he is batting.  He recently showed glimpses of that in the Australia-India T20I series. Though, the right-handed batsman failed to deliver on a consistent basis for Delhi Daredevils who had bought him at a big amount of 9 crores in IPL 2018.

Teams in IPL always like to insert T20 styled batsmen, so the Victoria-born cricketer could once again steal the show at the auction. He might end up going to Mumbai Indians as they are in need of some firepower in the middle. Having a bit of off-spin bowling experience, Maxwell can help them with some overs as well, which always remains a bonus for any team.
