As the Men in Blue played their final round of One Day International Cricket as the last step of preparations ahead of the World Cup when they hosted the visiting Australian team for a five-match ODI series. The name Ashton Turner became fairly familiar during the said tour when the 26-year-old was able to leave a mark. He is now ready to shine in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well with Australia’s series against Pakistan coming to an end.

Turner came to the forefront after his heroics in the fourth ODI at Mohali, earlier this year. Chasing a hefty total of 359, Australia eased towards the chase as Turner turned the match on its head in the latter part of the game. While he was playing only the second ODI match of his career, Turner was able to smack the bowlers all over the park on his way to a match-winning knock of 84 off 43 balls at a strike rate of 195.

It is this sort of classy hitting that is admired and desired in the rich T20 league such as IPL. Turner, who was known for his skills playing for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL, finished as their top scorer in the league, excelling unusually in and towards the final overs. Turner is also a part-time spinner who can be used to contain the flow runs, with a very useful economy of 6.97 in T20 cricket, further adding to his value. The Rajasthan Royals was hence happy to recruit the young Australian star in the auction in December last year.

He has a habit of turning heads wherever he plays, RR welcomes Turner

Earlier, Shane Warne, the brand ambassador of the Royals revealed how they landed the star player at a cheap price. Shane Warne unveiled that it was after discussing with England cricketer Dimitri Mascheranas and watching Ashton Turner play in the Big Bash League that they decided to rope him in for the RR franchise in the IPL.

Shane Warne recalled that he had called up the Rajasthan Royals owners and asked them to bag Ashton Turner- very level head on his shoulders for a young player- at the auctions in Jaipur this season. The young star has now arrived at the Jaipur Airport after and will join the Royals camp soon. In this light, the official Twitter of the RR has a message for the star.
