The former Australia spinner Brad Hogg embodies the spirit of someone loving the game to the hilt that he made a comeback to the game after crossing the age of 40. The Australian spinner played IPL for two franchises, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders and had a decently successful career.

He continues to ply his trade in the Big Bash League and even at the age of 48, recently being a part of the Big Bash League franchise for Melbourne Renegades in 2017-18. Hogg has been seriously impressed with the captaincy skills and acumen of Delhi Capitals’ young leader Shreyas Iyer. The Iyer-led team stands second in the points table with 14 points and already put one leg in the playoffs.

Iyer has taken DC to new heights with his captaincy, feels Brad Hogg

Shreyas Iyer was made the captain of the Delhi Capitals last season when it was known as Delhi Daredevils and was initially led by Gautam Gambhir. After losing a few matches on the trot, the owners made Iyer the captain and he almost turned the fortunes of the team around.

despite having a senior player like Shikhar Dhawan in the team, the team management decided to continue with Iyer at the helm for IPL 12. Iyer has the support from coach Ricky Ponting and advisor Sourav Ganguly. Hogg too praised Iyer for his astute decision making when it comes to bowling changes.

“Shreyas Iyer, there is no doubt about that. Delhi Capitals have been nowhere throughout the whole IPL in the previous editions. This year they are at the top because a young man has taken the responsibility with both bat and leadership out in the field. He is making the right decisions with his bowlers, has led from the front and has taken ownership of that job,” Hogg was quoted as saying by Timesnownews.

Iyer had also made 281 runs for DC in 11 matches with two half-centuries and has anchored the innings in mid-innings with hitters batting around him. DC is filled with talents like Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada, Rishabh Pant who are big names on their own, but the 24-year-old has not deterred away from taking the responsibility whenever his team has been in crisis.
