Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper, injured himself during the practice session on the eve of the match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). This news comes just a few days before the selectors pick the squad for the World Cup 2019. Rohit, being an integral part of India’s limited-overs set-up, will have a massive role to play in England later this year.

He is also the vice-captain of the team in white-ball cricket and has been providing the side with consistently good starts. Sharma’s intensity of the injury is not known as yet. There isn’t any official word from the Mumbai Indians’ management and the fans would be praying that it is not anything serious.

Rohit Sharma limped back to the pavilion

While training in the outfield on Tuesday, Rohit Sharma appeared to have pulled his hamstring. He looked to be in serious discomfort and seemed to be extreme pain according to Sportstar. The teams’ physio, Nitin Patel, raced to the ground to attend the skipper. After a little treatment, Rohit was back on his feet after some time. However, he limped towards the dressing room and didn’t come back to join the practice session again.

Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah also hurt himself during the match against the Delhi Capitals (DC). The pacer tried to dive to his left to prevent a run but ended up stretching his arm too much. Things looked ugly back then but the 25-year-old recovered well in time bringing a huge sigh to relief for the fans.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has looked to be in decent touch this season. However, he hasn’t managed to get a big score thus far. The opener has thrown away his starts more often than not. In five games thus far, he only managed to accrue 118 runs.
