Kolkata Knight Riders have usually targeted overseas players who have made a significant difference in the CPL, especially for their sister franchise Trinbago Knight Riders. Ali Khan of the USA and Darren Bravo of the Windies could be a couple of them. With the likes of Chris Lynn, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in their line-up, KKR might not run behind Hetmyer especially with the smaller purse available.

Instead, they can pick Sherfaine Rutherford as a backup member. They usually eye quick bowlers who could work well for them at the Eden Gardens. Alongside Ali Khan, the Kolkata franchise will pursue South Africa’s uncapped pacer Anrich Nortje. The speedster was bowling in high 140s regularly at the Mzansi Super League before he caught up an injury.

The team management might want to bring in someone from the other side of the border. They could thus rope in Mahmudullah, who has been a utility player for each and every team he played in T20 leagues.
