Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns in a crunch clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, knowing that a loss will very much dump them out of the competition tonight. While neither of the two teams has their destinies in their hands, they still have a mathematical chance of making it to the next round. With just 4 wins in 12 games, Royal Challengers languish at the bottom of the table while Royals are one spot above them with 5 wins.
No team in the history of IPL has ever qualified with 12 points. However, if Royal Challengers win their remaining two games and the other results go their way, they can very much progress ahead. RCB enter the contest after a suffering a 16-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals in the away game. With consistency being their nemesis this season, Bangalore will be hoping that they shed that problem and deliver tonight.
Royals, on the other hand, are looking a solid outfit under new captain Steve Smith. They have arrived in Bangalore after winning two back-to-back games, the first time they have been able to do so this season. The thumping seven-wicket win win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous outing showed that they can thrive even in the absence of the likes of Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes. With the momentum on their side, the Royals will be looking to beat RCB for the second time this season.
How’s the weather expected to be:
While both the teams will be desperate to bag both the points from the game, rain could dash their hopes. According to AccuWeather, the chances of rain in Bangalore are 51% when the game starts. The chances will decrease as the game wears on but will remain on 20s.
The cloud coverage of over 90% throughout the match is also a worrying sign for both the teams. The humidity will make for an unpleasant experience too as it will hover between 83-94%. As far as the temperature is concerned, it will be around 24-degree Celsius throughout.
