The Kings XI Punjab signed off their 2019 IPL campaign with a big win against the Chennai Super Kings in Mohali. The visitors failed to make most of the wickets in hand as they finished with 170/5 despite a 55-ball 96 from Faf du Plessis and a 38-ball 53 by Suresh Raina. He added 108 for the first wicket in only 10.3 overs as Kings XI chased down the target with six wickets and two overs to spare.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during Kings XI Punjab’s big win against CSK:

A KLR special:

2KL Rahul completed his fifty by end of 4th over of Kings XI’s innings. Rahul brought up his fifty by 2.5 overs of KXIP’s innings when he scored a 14-ball fifty at this very venue in 2018. These two are the only individual fifties in the IPL to be recorded by end of the 4th over of a team inning.

The fastest fifty:

19 – The 19-ball fifty from KL Rahul is now the fastest fifty in the IPL by any player against Chennai Super Kings. The previous fastest IPL fifty vs CSK was off 20 balls by David Warner in the 2015 edition.

Bhajji bounces back:

3/57 – Harbhajan Singh finished with figures of 3/57 in his four overs; the most number of runs conceded by a player in an IPL game for taking three or more wickets. Karanveer Singh gave away 54 runs for his 4-wicket haul in the 2014 IPL final against KKR.

57 – The 57 runs conceded by Harbhajan are also the joint 2nd most runs conceded by a CSK player in an IPL game. Mohit Sharma was hit for 58 runs in the 2015 edition game in Hyderabad against the Sunrisers while Palani Amarnath also conceded 57 runs during the 2008 season game against MI.

Raina and Faf hunt KXIP yet again:

814 – Suresh Raina’s 814 runs in the IPL against the Kings XI Punjab are the 2nd most by any player against them. David Warner is ahead of Raina with 819 runs despite playing six innings lesser than Raina.

5 – Faf du Plessis scores his 5th half-century in the IPL against the Kings XI Punjab. Faf has played only eight innings against KXIP scoring 367 runs. The South African scored only six fifties against the remaining teams across 53 innings.

A big knock in a defeat:

96 – The 96-run knock from Faf du Plessis is now the highest individual IPL score in a defeat for the Chennai Super Kings. The previous highest IPL score by a CSK player in the losing cause was 87 by Suresh Raina in 2014 also against Kings XI.
