Mumbai Indians finished as the table-toppers by knocking out Kolkata Knight Riders in the last league game of the season. The visiting team posted only 133/7 in the do-or-die game with Robin Uthappa’s 47-ball 40 hogging the limelight for wrong reasons though. Rohit Sharma scored his 2nd fifty of the season to take his team through with 23 balls to spare. They lost only Quinton de Kock’s wicket in this game and took the Sunrisers Hyderabad along with them to playoffs.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during MI’s 9th victory of the season

KKR’s nightmare

1Kolkata Knight Riders have won only once at the Wankhede Stadium. They played as many as nine matches at this venue thus far, all against the Mumbai Indians. KKR’s only win at this venue came during the 2012 season when they defeated the hosts by 32 runs.

9 – The 9-wicket win for the Mumbai Indians in this game is their first such win in the last four seasons. Overall, this is the biggest defeat for the Kolkata Knight Riders in terms of wickets in the IPL and the first such loss to MI.

MI finishes as the toppers:

3 – Mumbai Indians finished as the table-toppers for the 3rd time in an IPL edition. They were No.1 at the end of league stage in 2010 and 2017 as well. They are the first side to be table toppers in three different IPL seasons. The Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils/Capitals finished as No.1 in two different seasons.

Uthappa’s slow knock

85.11 – Robin Uthappa’s batting SR of 85.11 during his 47-ball 40 is now the 2nd lowest SR in an IPL inning of 40 and more runs. Mike Hussey had an SR of 78.43 during his 51-ball 40 in the 2013 season game against KKR. Hussey recorded it while chasing for CSK who completed a successful chase later on.

A tough year with the ball for KKR:

54 – Number of wickets bagged by the Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers in this IPL, the 3rd fewest by any team’s bowlers in an IPL season. KKR themselves claimed only 49 scalps in the 2009 edition while the Delhi Daredevils/Capitals picked up 51 wickets in the 2014 season.

1 – Number of 3-wicket hauls recorded by KKR bowlers in this season, the joint-fewest by any team’s bowlers in a single IPL edition. The Delhi Daredevils/Capitals in the 2013 edition and the Mumbai Indians in 2014 season also had only one 3-fer recorded by their bowlers.

Milestone game for Rohit:

150 – This game was Rohit Sharma’s 150th game for the Mumbai Indians in the T20 format. Only Kieron Pollard (168*) and Harbhajan Singh (158) have featured in more T20s for MI.

824 – Runs Rohit Sharma has aggregated in the IPL while playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders; the 2nd most by any player behind David Warner’s 829 runs.
