The Delhi Capitals will be aiming to make it to the IPL final for the first time ever after registering their first ever win in the knockout/playoff round of IPL. They will be now up against the Chennai Super Kings who defeated them twice in as many games during the league phase. The Super Kings went down for the 3rd time in a row against Mumbai Indians this season and are forced to play the 2nd Qualifier to qualify for the final.

2 – Chennai Super Kings lost only twice in their last 12 IPL matches against the Delhi Capitals/Daredevils. The two victories for the Delhi franchise came in the 2015 and 2018 editions respectively.
15 – MS Dhoni has won as many as 15 matches as captain in the IPL against the Delhi franchise; the joint-most wins for a skipper against an opponent. Dhoni himself won 15 IPL games against the RCB. Dhoni led CSK and RPS across 21 matches and lost only in six.
