The Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be relieved to open their account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019, as they defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side defeated Virat Kohli’s team by seven wickets in Jaipur and it was a clinical show from the Men in Pink on the day.
In their next match, to be played on 7th April, Sunday at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Royals will host the Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Dinesh Karthik. RR had made a change to their team against RCB, bringing in Varun Aaron for Jaydev Unadkat, exchanging extreme pace for expensive bowling figures.
Thomas to play?
And it seems that RR will continue to do so, as they recently teased at the inclusion of Oshane Thomas for their next match. Oshane Thomas is the latest West Indian fast bowler who not only bowls fast but also looks intimidating thanks to his bulky physique and strong shoulders.
The 22-year-old was picked by the franchise in the IPL 2019 auction for INR 1.10 crores and is yet to play a match. A fast bowler with impressive pace, Thomas has played 9 ODIs and 7 T20Is for the Windies and has picked 15 and 5 wickets respectively. He recently picked his maiden five-wicket haul against England, picking 5/21 in the 5th ODI at Gros Islet, helping his team rout England for 113 runs.
RR sit on the seventh spot on the points table with two points from four matches, while KKR are at the fourth spot with 4 points from 3 matches played. Bringing in Oshane Thomas will definitely help the Rajasthan Royals with their fast bowling which has been sketchy as its best given that Unadkat has gone for plenty of runs in the three matches he played and Aaron was expensive.
Thomas had looked good when he toured India recently and his buying in the auction was a good pick by Royals. Royals shared a picture of Thomas in action during practice on their Twitter with the caption “A sight no batsman would enjoy!”
