IPL 2019: Rashid Khan wishes Colin Ingram prior to the auction

The auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to take place on December 18 in Jaipur. A total of 346 players would go under the hammer. A total of nine players have set a base price of INR 2 crore. They are also the marquee players, one of them is South African batsman Colin Ingram, who has the experience of playing T20 cricket across the globe.

Previously, he was picked up by Delhi Capitals, then Daredevils, in 2011. The left-handed batsman went on to play only three matches in which could only score 21 runs with a top score of 13. The 33-year-old veteran has a truckload of experience in this format, having played 202 matches and scoring 5186 runs with three centuries and as many as 32 half-centuries.

This year, he has been listed at a base price of INR 2 crore. In the meantime, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, who has already played a couple of seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad, wished for Ingram to play the IPL. Prior to that Ingram also expressed his excitement before the auction.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Is this the year i return to @IPL ???will be great to be back & excited to take on the challenge,”

Replying to Ingram’s tweet Rashid wrote, “You really deserve it bro can’t wait to see you in action for any team in @IPL,”

Rashid and Ingram recently played together in the inaugural edition of the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) at Sharjah Cricket Ground. Both plied their trade for Kabul Zwanan, who ended up as the runners-up after being defeated by Balkh Legends, captained by Mohammad Nabi, in the final. Ingram played nine matches in the T20 event in which he racked up 206 runs with a highest score of 83 not out.
