The exhilarating ODI series between India and Australia has managed to keep the focus off the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). With the series currently locked at 2-2, all eyes are on the fifth and final ODI on Wednesday. But there is little denying the fact that the cricketing fraternity is already buzzing as the IPL edges closer. Teams have already started their preparations while the full-fledged preparations are set to get underway by the end of this week.

The league will start on March 23 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Royal Challenging Bangalore (RCB). The BCCI has so far announced the schedule for the first two weeks only because of the confusion over the date of the general election. The election date has already been announced and the BCCI will now announce the whole schedule.

And as the tournament edges closer, former Rajasthan Royals’ skipper has made a couple of bold predictions. The legendary spinner has backed his team to go all the way in the competition and even predicted Sanju Samson to beat the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the race to win the Player of the Tournament award. Warne made his predictions on his official Instagram account.

“Great to be back in Mumbai & in the pink for the @rajasthanroyals as brand ambassador. Exciting times as there is only 2 weeks to go till our 1st game. I believe with the squad the boys have put together – we are favourites to win the #IPL this year – so get on the boys in pink ! Plus I also think that @imsanjusamson will be the player of the tournament ! Agree followers,” he wrote.

Royals and Samson’s journey in the IPL:

After winning the inaugural edition against all the odds, the Royals are yet to even enter the final let alone winning the competition. They, however, have a good team this year with the likes of Sanju Samson, Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes as well as the returning Steve Smith being some of the big names. The Royals had made it to the Qualifiers last season and will be looking to go all the way this time around.

Samson, on the other hand, has played 81 IPL games since making his debut in 2013, scoring 1867 runs at an average of 26.67 with one hundred and 10 half-centuries. In the previous edition, he had scored 441 runs from 15 matches at 31.50 with the helo of 3 fifties.
