In the Indian Premier League (IPL), it is crucial to have the right set of Indian players in your team. These cricketers are to be slotted in the right positions to maximize the results. After the mega-auction last year, some of the teams have erred with their picks. However, ahead of IPL 2019, they got a chance to rectify their slips and rejig their squads at the auction table.
Therefore, quite evidently, all the teams tried to address the loopholes. In this attempt, they didn’t back off from going hard after a few cricketers making them the most expensive Indians picks. Jayadev Unadkat and Varun Chakravarthy raised a few eyebrows as they got the biggest cheques overall at the auction. Both of them fetched ₹8.40 crores and will represent Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab respectively.
Following up next, there were three cricketers who were sold at ₹5 crores. Shivam Dube, the six-hitting machine in domestic cricket was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Also, quite surprisingly, all-rounder Axar Patel and pacer Mohit Sharma were sold at the same price point. While Axar will now represent the Dehli Capitals, Mohit is back with the Chennai Super Kings.
Despite a poor outing last season, Mohammed Shami has managed to make it into this list. He was picked up by the Kings XI Punjab at ₹4.80 crores. The pacer only managed to pick up three wickets in four games last season and leaked a lot of runs. 17-year-old Prabhsimran Singh, a completely unknown commodity, is another surprise. Akshdeep Nath, Barinder Sran and Varun Aaron are the next three players to follow.
